Best Editorial yet!

I will be Face Book free, 4 years this October 10th. I had been complaining about the lies & hate speech, for months. I decided that Face Book was not worth it. So many people believed the lies which added to the hate.
Zuckerburg is now rethinking the whole thing. The good people are prevailing, by using their voices & pocketbook. He lost a lot of advertisers $$$.
I truly believe that all these protests, boycotts & people doing the right thing, will continue until we can truly call ourselves the UNITED States Of America. Hope everyone is wearing their masks to help us get back to some normalcy. It's just the right thing to do, for all.

Fieldcrest Receives State Guidance on Returning to School

Dear Fieldcrest CUSD#6 Community,

I hope this message finds you and your family safe and well. Today,
the Illinois State Board of Education released guidance for schools on
the 2020-2021 school year.

This 60-page document has been much anticipated and will go a long
way toward answering critical questions all of us share about what the
2020-2021 school year will look like. Fieldcrest will comply with state
requirements to keep everyone safe and healthy, while also
re-engaging students in the learning process.

Right now, we don't have all the answers to those questions as this
document was released to school districts at the same time it was
released to the public this afternoon. Therefore, we kindly ask for your
patience as our Return to Learn Committee thoroughly reviews this
detailed guidance and implements the suggestions into our district's
own transition plan.

Fieldcrest CUSD#6 is keenly aware of the need to communicate to
families about what to expect next school year and anticipate
releasing our own transition plan in July.

As you may know, our district formed a Return to Learn Committee
earlier this month. This committee is composed of students, staff,
parents, and administrators. This guidance, along with survey results,
will guide our conversations, and I'm confident our district can put
forth a plan that prioritizes the health and safety of our students and
staff while maintaining a dynamic learning environment.

Thank you again for your patience, understanding, and flexibility as
our entire district navigated a situation together that none of us could
have imagined.

I will be in touch soon. In the meantime, stay safe and enjoy your
summer.

Respectfully,
Kari L. Rockwell

Fieldcrest To Survey Return to School Considerations

Dear Fieldcrest Parent/Guardian,

At the time this Return to Learn survey is being sent to you, Fieldcrest has yet to receive comprehensive guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education on what the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year will look like.

As previously stated, we thoroughly appreciate the positive partnerships that have taken place through the spring semester. As we approach fall, our true hope is to safely bring our students and staff back to in-person instruction.

In order to best meet the needs of our students, Fieldcrest administration would like to know what measures parents feel will help facilitate a safe and healthy return to school.

Please complete the survey prior to the closing date of July 5th. We value your opinion and look forward to seeing our students very soon!

Access the 3 minute survey by clicking this link.

Thank you,

The Fieldcrest Return to Learn Committee

Minonk 4th of July Events Scaled Down to Fireworks

Minonk 4th of July Participants: Due to COVID-19, Minonk 4th of July will be scaled down this year. In light of the extension of the COVID-19 precautions in the state, we are unable to host the games, meals, parades, and vendor show activities that so many of us enjoy. I'm sure most of you have seen the Governor's latest 5 phase plan. According to the plan, events with more than 50 people (festivals, conventions, etc.) are not to be held until Phase 5 is reached. This will not happen until either a treatment or vaccine is created.

We will, however, have an even BIGGER and BETTER fireworks celebration! We are working hard to find a way for families to enjoy the best fireworks in central Illinois in a safe manner. Rather than having fireworks that are closer to the ground, we will be shooting off 12 inch fireworks shells that go even higher and are bigger than ever before. More details to come… We felt that it was important to keep this tradition alive and look forward to everyone being able to experience this event.

Thank you for your continued patronage! ~ The Minonk 4th of July Committee
