Obituary

Joy M. Longman, 91, of Minonk, passed away at 11:35 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the ARC at Normal.

Joy was born on February 10, 1932 in San Angelo, TX a daughter of James Berry and Minnie A.Bassett Rogers.

She met Earl E. Longman in 1951 and they were married August 17, 1952 In Taylorville. Earl died on August 28, 2016.

Surviving are her children: Patricia Joy Fewell, Ashmore, Edward James (Lisa) Longman, Minonk, Terry Arthur (Beth) Longman, El Paso and Suzanne Marie (John) Schertz of El Paso; one daughter-in-law, Karen Longman, El Paso; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, John, a granddaughter, Sadie and two brothers: Jim and Bill.

Joy had worked as a teachers aide for the MDR and Fieldcrest School Districts and at The El Paso Public Library.

She was a longtime member of the Home Extension Association and was a Sunday School Teacher at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Minonk for many years.

Joy was also a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Minonk where her memorial service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Jay Hurd will officiate. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ruestman Harris Funeral Home in Minonk. Inurnment will be in Minonk Twp. Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Paul's United Church of Christ Youth Group, El Paso Library, or to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research or charity of donor's choice.
