On Tuesday August 2, 2022 Margaret Loretta Kaczmarek, loving wife, sister and aunt passed away at the age of 96.
Margaret was born on April 18, 1926 in Minonk, IL to Elizabeth and William Hewitt. In 1948 Margaret graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta and earned her Bachelor of Art degree in English. After graduating, she worked for over 20 years as Head of Admissions at the University of Illinois, Chicago. On July 15, 1961 Margaret married Henry "Hank" Kaczmarek. They remained happily married until his death in 1992.
Margaret was an active volunteer in her community having served as a past President of the Hinsdale Women's Club and as a past Regent of the Daughters of The American Revolution. She was also a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Hinsdale.
Margaret loved reading, playing bridge and dancing. For many years, well into her 80's, she played bridge and danced weekly and also hosted or attended monthly book club meetings. She enjoyed traveling the world in her retirement with visits to Italy, Greece, Russia and the Caribbean among others. Margaret valued spending time with family and most evenings you would find her having dinner with her brother and his family in Oak Brook. Margaret was preceded in death by her father, William and her mother, Elizabeth, and her brother, William, Jr; and her husband Henry. She is survived by her brother James, his wife Marjo and their sons Ethan (Xuan), Seth (Erin) and Noah (Kendall) as well as her sister-in-law Marianne Sweeney and her five grand nieces Megan, Clare, Molly, Kenna and Matea. She is missed dearly by each of them.
