Glen L. Carls, 81, of Minonk, IL, passed away at 9:47 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday December 4, 2023, at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk, IL, with Pastor Jay Hurd officiating. A burial will follow at Minonk Twp. Cemetery with military rites. The visitation will be 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the memorial home and a Masonic Service will be at 4:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Minonk, The Minonk Food Pantry, or the Minonk Ambulace Service.

Glen was born January 13, 1942, in Minonk Twp., the son of John and Anna Timmerman Carls.

Surviving is his brother, Dewain (Barbara) Carls of Minonk; two sisters-in-law, and three brothers-in-law; and several nieces and nephews; and his loving dog, GiGi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Donnie and Dennis; and four sisters: Eileen Charlier, Evelyn Carlson, JoAnn Ladtkow, and Aldine Cowell.

He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, the Wenona Lodge #344 A.F. & A.M., and the Minonk American Legion Post # 142. He owned and operated Chicago Butchers Red Fox where he worked for 36 years, retiring in 1991. After he retired, he delivered flowers for 20 years for County Florist in Minonk. Glen was known for his humor, his laugh was contagious and never knew a stranger. He enjoyed woodworking and making things for others. He will be greatly missed.
