Sunday, September 25, 2016 - Posted 9:51:38 AM

The 400 block of Chestnut Street was closed off for the Oktoberfest in downtown Minonk Saturday evening. Benches were lined in the streets for people to eat, drink and listen to the polka band.

Ray Koncar and the Boys from Joliet provided polka music.

Food vendors were stationed in Cannon Park. Food was also served by the taverns on Chestnut Street.  Crowds milled in and out of the taverns as well as sitting on benches in the streets and in Cannon Park.

Corey Grosenbach, dressed in German attire, serves brats and sausage at his food stand. People could take out drinks from the taverns on Chestnut Street.

A few people even danced to the polka music.  After the polka music finished at 8:00 pm another band played for the rest of the evening.
