Monday, September 18, 2017 - Posted 11:14:07 AM by Carl Bond
September 17 - 23 is Constitution Week. In 1955, the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution petitioned Congress with a resolution; this week of observance for the foundation of the American form of government was signed into law by President Dwight D. Eisenhower on August 2, 1956. George W. Bush officially declared the inception of Constitution Week in 2002. The commitment of the NSDAR is to encourage study and educate the public about the Constitution, which was adopted by the American Congress of the Confederation on September 17, 1787.

To celebrate Constitution Week (9/17 - 9/23), the Black Partridge Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) provided signs for a book display at the Fondulac District Library in East Peoria. Items on display are nonfiction books about Founding Fathers, the Constitution, and more topics related to early United States history. All books on display are available for patrons to check out and take home to learn more. The display is scheduled to be up through September 26th and is located on the upper level of the library in the atrium seating area. Melissa Friedlund, a member of the Black Partridge Chapter, set up the the display.
