The class of 1969 invited the classes of 1968 and 1970 to join in the September 5th week-end of events for their 45th reunion. The celebration kicked off as classmates gathered at the football field for the Chenoa/Fieldcrest game that was ultimately rained out. Schmoe's was the after game meeting spot for an evening of visiting and karaoke. Jill Baxter Hamilton, class of 1970, was the songbird that encouraged classmates to sing-a-long.
"Bright and early" on Saturday AM, beneath crisp and clear central IL skies, Marc Durre, class of 1969, led an enthusiastic group in a golf scramble at Tall Oaks Country Club. Later in the day at 4 PM, the group organized for a tour of Fieldcrest High School, that they had attended in the 1960's. Fieldcrest Student Council/Key Club led the tour and answered the many questions from the classmates.
Twenty-nine members of class of 1969, eleven members from class of 1970 and 1 member from class of 1968, gathered for dinner at Capponi's Restaurant at 6 PM. Class of 1969 honored their ten classmates loss to soon. Nancy Craig, class of 1969, enjoyed her Happy Birthday serenade. The group was treated to a delightful dessert of an assortment of cupcakes provided by Sally Bane, committee member, as well as a splash from the past of carmel apples and whips from Cunningham Candies. The hall was tastefully decorated in a sixties theme with an addition of colorful floral arrangements from Country Florist. Attendees, some for the first time, traveled from as far as MN, OR, CA, TX and CO.
The reunion continued on Sunday when the classmates along with their grandchildren enjoyed a picnic-in-the park of Subway sandwiches. Thank you to all that joined in to make this celebration special.
