History tour of Minonk included in sesquicentennial celebration

A history tour of Minonk will be an added feature of the city's sesquicentennial celebration to be held on June 11th through the 13th. The tour includes exhibits in various buildings in the downtown area.

A mining and railroad exhibit will be on display in the Anderson Building(Old City Hall) at 156 West Fifth Street. Exhibits by the various churches will also be on display.

Two doors down at the office of MinonkTalk (IOOF building) there will be an exhibit of Minonk memorabilia and artifacts including paintings, old postcards, athletic uniforms, and athletic trophies.

The Picket Fence at 556 Chestnut Street will display military uniforms and equipment and old farming equipment will be on display at the Hewitt Building at 516 Chestnut Street.

There will be a walking Tour of notable graves in the Minonk Township cemetery.

Finally, there will be a DVD presentation of a photographic history of Minonk in a movie theater setting at 466 Chestnut Street, one door north of Kathy's Kitchen. The movie will show continously.
