Three Fieldcrest CUSD # 6 staff members were recently recognized for excellence at the Illinois Education Association Region14 and Region 62 Awards Banquet in Bloomington.
Mrs. Geraldine Cleary and Mrs. Judy Bennington were recipients of the Teacher Excellence Award, and Mr. Lyle (Skip) May was a recipient of the ESP Excellence Award. The Teacher Excellence award is designed to recognize outstanding accomplishments in the classroom. The ESP award is to recognize outstanding accomplishments of the support personnel in a school system.
Mrs. Cleary has taught 29 years. She worked two years in Streator schools and 27 years for MDR and Fieldcrest schools. She works as a reading specialist at Fieldcrest Elementary South in Minonk.
Mrs. Bennington teaches humanities and language arts at Fieldcrest Middle School East in Wenona. She is retiring at the end of this year after 34 years in education.
Mr. May has been a custodian for 15 years. He was recognized for his dedication to his job and to the children at Fieldcrest Elementary South.
