Village-Aires Spring Concert set for April 24-25

Thursday April 8, 2004 Posted 5:15 p.m.

Relive yesteryear with the Village-Aires as they present their spring concert "Minonk's Memory Lane." The concert will be presented on Saturday, April 24th at 7 p.m. and again Sunday, April 25th at 3 p.m. Both concerts will be at the Fieldcrest High School Gym. Tickets are $5.00 if purchased ahead of time from members and $5.50 at the door.

What a great way to start off Minonk's Sesquicentennial by walking down Minonk's memory lane, seeing pictures of Minonk's buildings such as schools and churches down through the years and hearing the sounds of songs down through the decades.

Do you remember these songs? "Let's Take an Old-Fashioned Walk," "School Days," "Candy Man," "I've Been Working on the Railroad," "Alexander's Ragtime Band," "In The Mood," "They're Playing My Song," and "Theme from Minonk, Minonk." The men will be singing a song that resonates with the mines "Sixteen Tons." You won't want to miss the women as they do the "Charleston" and "Ain't We Got Fun." The show wouldn't be complete without the children. They will be singing "Old MacDonald Had A Jazzy Farm." The men's quartet will sing out with "Hello, My Baby."

The Village-Aires members are: Judy Bennington, Leah Bown, Teresa Cirks, Pam Gansch-Boythe, Dawn Geringer, Loretta Hunt, Shirley Missey, Nancy Redenius, Tiffany Bennington, Debby Cargill, Joan Jochums, Donna Leonard, Marylu Pille, Jay Hurd, Mike Isham, Jack Jochums, Dick Leonard, Joel Jochums, Don Oesch, Ron Redenius, and Jerry Welch.

Elaine Cunningham is our musical director, Jack Jochums is the program director, Marylu Pille is stage director, Jamey Welch is percussion director, and Jeremy Welch is the slide technical presenter.

So, why not start off your celebration of Minonk's Sesquicentennial Celebration by joining the Village-Aires for a walk down "Minonk's Memory Lane"
