Cub Scouts learn about cheese

Tuesday March 16, 2004 Posted 11:30 a.m. Reported by Christina Jenkins
The local Cub Scouts had a meeting at St. Pauls United Church of Christ Monday night, and BOTH Tiger Dens (6 & 7) were in attendance.

Jeff Zivney came to the meeting and explained how cheese is made. He showed the boys different utensils that are used, and brought in different size containers that cheese is made in. He said that Zivney Cheese makes about 1 1/2 million pounds of cheese in Minonk each year. He computed how much milk is used to make that much, and the parents were astounded! Different kinds of cheeses were sampled, and Jeff even took time to pose for pictures with the Dens.

Thanks a bunch to Jeff for giving the demonstration that helped the boys to earn their achievement this month!
