City approves payment to SMF for facade replacement

Monday, November 3, 2003 Posted 8:00 p.m.
The Minonk City Council approved a facade application from SMF of Minonk at its regular Monday night meeting. A TIF II payment of $3,592.38, which is 1/3 of the $10,886.51 total replacement cost, will be made to SMF upon recipt of paid invoices for the buildings at 1032 Chestnut Street. The payment is based on the use of TIF money to encourage facade replacement and improvement of buildings within the TIF district.

In other business, the council approved ammendents to various ordinances introduced at their last meeting. The council approved an ammendment to the Weed Ordinance that added the ability of the city to place a lien on property for the cost of cleaning up property that violates the nuisance ordinance. In addition, the liquor ordinance was updated to bring it into compliance with the State Liquor Code.

The council approved Ordinance 2003-16 that allows the city to levy taxes for the current budget.

Westside Park Pavilion Committee member Dave Uphoff told the council that carpenters will be hoisting the trusses on the pavilion next weekend and plan to complete the sheeting of the roof as well. Uphoff said that, weather permitting, the roof will be shingled the following weekend.

Mayor Mark Spencer announced that the Fourth of July Committee will be holding a meeting on Wednesday, November 5, at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall to discuss plans for the next Fourth of July celebration. In addition, a discussion will be held on the possibility of combining Minonk's sesquicentennial celebration with the Fourth of July celebration. Anyone interested in participating in either celebration is invited to attend the meeting.
