Monday, March 1, 2004 Posted 9:00 p.m.
The Minonk City Council accepted a bid from H. J. Eppel & Co. of Pontiac to resurface Chestnut Street this summer. The low bid was $300,195.77. A bid of $26,896.59 to resurface the tennis courts was not accepted by the council. Alderman Bill Koos said the tennis court bid should be tabled until the Parks and Recreation Committee has a chance to review the bid. City Administrator Trent Smith said the resurfacing project should start in the middle or end of April. Smith said the project is expected to be completed in 33 days.

The council approved the granting of a lump sum payment of $592.14 to Soaring Eagle Studio as a TIF expenditure for the business/ retention project. This amount represents 50% of the total cost of the renovation which includes replacing the carpet, remodeling the customer counter, and painting the interior.

City Administrator Trent Smith said that the city has received an estimate of $48,040 from Colclasure, Inc. to replace the section of sanitary sewer line on Maple Avenue between 7th and 8th Street. The estimate does not include pavement replacement which will be done later.

The city is planning to buy a 1993 Ford one-ton dump truck from Tjaden Construction for $9500. The truck will be used as a salt truck.

Westside Park Pavilion Committee member Dave Uphoff told the council that construction on the new pavilion will resume this next weekend. Uphoff said that completion of the roof is the next project. He said that the committee is asking for volunteers to help with the construction to finish the pavilion. Those who wish to help should contact Uphoff at 432-3518 or Randy Kleen. Uphoff said that tentative plans are to hold the dedication ceremony for the pavilion on June 13.
