Henry D. "Heinie" Kalkwarf - October 8, 2003

Funeral services for Henry D. "Heinie" Kalkwarf will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at St. Petri Lutheran Church, rural Flanagan with Rev. Paul Lellelid and Rev. Craig Swenson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Petri Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Petri Lutheran Church, Flanagan or to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Minonk.

Mr. Kalkwarf, 90, a lifetime Flanagan/Minonk area resident, died at 2:35 P.M., Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at St. Mary's Hospital, Streator.

He was born April 10, 1913 in rural Flanagan a son of Benjamin and Anna Harms Kalkwarf. On February 6, 1937, he married Bertha Flohr in Benson; she survives.

Also surviving are three children; "Shorty" (Barbara) Kalkwarf, Minonk, Joan (David) Seifert, Michigan City, Indiana and Jane (Bill) Diaz, Pontiac; ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren and a brother, Rev. Carl Kalkwarf, Arlington Heights, Illinois.

Mr. Kalkwarf was preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Orville Kalkwarf and a sister, Esther Vissering.

He was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church where he sang with the choir for nearly fifty years. Mr. Kalkwarf was a member of the Missionary Society of the church and served for a number of years on the Flanagan School Board. He farmed in the Minonk/Flanagan areas for many years and was known for his great sense of humor.
