Henrietta "Peg" Hakes - March 30, 2002

Henrietta "Peg" Hakes 98 of Beulah Land Christian Home, Flanagan formerly of Minonk passed away at 7:30 AM March 30, 2002 at the Beulah Land Christian Home, Flanagan.

Funeral service for Mrs. Hakes will be 1:00 PM Thursday April 4, 2002 at Folkers - Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk with the Rev Connie Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Rutland Cemetery, Rutland. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM untill time of service Thursday at the memorial home. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Minonk or the Beulah Land Christian Home, Flanagan.

Mrs. Hakes was born October 7, 1903 in Roodhouse, IL the daughter of Harry and Nellie Braznell Ruyle. She married Elmore C. Hakes on October 29, 1927 in Pontiac. He passed away on August 27, 1984. Surviving is one son, Clinton (Karen) Hakes of Geneva, one daughter, Barbara (Don) Smith of Plainfield, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Her parents and one brother Cloyd B. Ruyle preceded Mrs. Hakes in death.

Mrs. Hakes was an active member of the United Methodist Church of both Minonk and Dana. She attended Illinois State University and taught Home Economics at Dana High School. She and her husband farmed west of Dana until retiring in 1972. She also had taught Sunday school at the church. She was best known for her skills at quilting and sewing.
