Willis E. Brown Sr. - February 24, 2002

The funeral of Willis E. Brown Sr., 74, of 310 Chestnut St., Minonk, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Minonk. The Rev. Daniel Gansch-Boythe will officiate. Burial will be in Minonk Township Cemetery, Minonk, with military rites conducted by Minonk American Legion Post 142. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Minonk, and for one hour before the service Thursday at the church. Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, El Paso, is handling arrangements.

He died at 6:55 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 24, 2002) at his residence.

Mr. Brown was born March 23, 1927, at Long Point, the son of James O. and Della Brown Brown. He married Darlene J. Ruestman Aug. 25, 1947, at Piggot, Ark. She survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Gloria (A.J.) Arrington, North Pekin; Pam (Craig) Dimmig, Flanagan; Patricia (Steve) Milashoski, El Paso; and Melissa Brown, Minonk; four sons, Gary (Mary Ann) Brown, Mesa, Ariz.; and Willis (Monica) Brown Jr., James (Peggy Koch) Brown and Brian (Coleen) Brown, all of Minonk; a twin sister, Wilma Beutke, Long Point; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

His parents, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

He attended St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Minonk. He was a Navy veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Minonk American Legion Post 142 and the Minonk Sportsmans Club.

He retired from the TP&W Railroad in East Peoria after 27 years. He also worked for the Pillsbury Company in East Peoria and Minonk Baking Company.
