City announces new garbage contract

 The City of Minonk at its last council meeting on Monday June 16, 2008 entered into a new  garbage contact with Titans Environmental Services, LLC, of El Paso, Illinois.

 
TERMS OF GARBAGE CONTACT:
 
1.  Three (3) year contract
 
2.  All garbage will be picked up on Thursday.
 
3.  If a holiday falls on a collection day or before a collection day during the week, collection service will be provided the next day.  The following shall constitute "holidays" for the purpose of this Waste Agreement.
  • New Years Day
  • Memorial Day
  • 4th of July
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas
4.  Titans Environmental Service will not be required to pick-up any garbage that is not in bags or garbage containers.  There is no limit on the number of containers; however, the amount of garbage set out must be within reasonable limits of each household.
 
5.  Garbage/Refuse.  Garbage and or Refuse DOES NOT include the following:
  • Concrete
  • Construction Debris
  • Landscape Wastes
  • Hazardous Items (fuel, oil, tires, batteries, etc.)
6.  Bulk Items.  Two (2) Bulk Items per household per month (household furniture and (White Goods) such as stoves, washers, dryers, refrigerators, etc. shall be picked up on the first Thursday of the month at No additional charge.
 
7.  Titans Environmental Services shall be compensated for garbage pick-up under this waste agreement as follows: The City shall pay Titans $11.15 per month per household.  If fuel prices increase more than 15% than the today price of $4.60/gallon Titans and City shall negotiate a new rate charged per month per household.  Titans is guaranteed at least 800 households per month.

I just want to thank the city for taking care of this issue and I also want to comment on what a good job these Titan guys are doing. I have been really impressed with how they move the cans up into the yard so they don't blow into the road.

Great job City Council on getting a very good garbage compnay.  I know everyone in the city will be very happy with this.
