COMPLIMENTS OF MINONK NEWS,
A. K. TATE, Proprietor.

This text is taken from a booklet entitled the 13th Annual Encampment of the Big Bend Veteran Association Re-Union Association in 1896. The booklet was printed by A. K. Tate, proprietor of the Minonk News, as a historical souvenir for the event. The Big Bend Reunions were a gathering of civil war veterans to commemorate the war. The event included re-enactments of battles, speeches, parades, band concerts, and balloon ascensions. The booklet describes these events as well as a description of Minonk, its people, its industry, and its history up to that point.

The booklet was provided by Kenneth Rients who received the booklet from his grandfather, Henry Cassens. Donna Rae Eilts prepared the computer text from the booklet. We are deeply grateful to both of them for their efforts in providing us with a fascinating history of Minonk.
