Blue Lights

Thank you to everyone who has made and continue to make the blue lights a success this holiday season. In response to the previous email posted on here, the money raised from the blue lights will be going directly to St. Jude. 100% of the profits will benefit the hospital where the boys are being treated. While raising money for such a worthy cause we as a community and surrounding areas will show support for this local family as they battle this ugly disease known as childhood cancer. This event of lighting up blue is a win win situation.
If there are any questions on how the Minonk to Peoria St. Jude Run works please contact one of the board members as they'd be glad to share with you where the money goes.
Thank you for your participation! We are all very excited to show our support to those in Memphis right now :)

Minonk to Peoria Run

31st Annual Minonk Parade of Lights, Saturday Dec 6th. 6:30 PM

Dave;
It's that time of year again. Parade of Lights is Saturday the 6th of December and if anyone is interested in putting a float in please let me know. I can be reached at 309 432 2332 or vnpetri@petrispourhouse.com. No entry fee. All we ask is that the float be "lighted" and NO political affiliation. There is always room for new entries and we are looking for more entries every year. This Parade is in its 31st year and is financed strictly by donations from area businesses, the City and individuals. Ed and Sherri Shirley bring up 18 of their floats every year and that is not a cheap trip for them and their employees. All the children that go to see Mr and Mrs Santa get a free bag of candy from local businesses so please make sure you stop uptown and support the local stores, restaurants and shops that make this event possible.

Anyone wishing to donate can make a donation to The Minonk Business Association at the Minonk Community Bank.

Thank you
Nick Petri
Parade Coordinator

Bus to football game?

Is there going to be an adult fan bus for Saturday's game? I live in Chillicothe and it would be great if I only had to drive to Minonk. That is less than half way for me.

Thank you to the officer on duty Saturday

I would like to give a shout out to the officer on duty Saturday night during Trick-or-Treating. He was driving down our street and happened to notice our 20-month-old daughter, Brenna, (dressed as Minnie Mouse) and our dog watching out the front door. He got out of his car and came up to our door with a bowl of candy and let Brenna pick out a piece. I thought that was so nice that he took the time to do that. I didn't catch his name but just want to say thanks and that we appreciate all that you guys do.

Food Pantry

McKay and St. Jude

I am confused about these blue light for the McKay Boys. Is the monies collected going to help the McKay family with the expenses of their travels to St Jude or is people trying to make money off their sickness. I am hear conflicting stories and would like to know.

Frank Allen

Editor's reply: All the money goes to St. Jude.

Blue lights to support McKay twins in St. Jude's

In honor of the McKay boys who are in St. Jude's Hospital being treated for brain tumors, Minonk-to-Peoria St Jude would like to light up the town BLUE for this holiday season. This is a great way to show our support to the St. Jude families and let them know we are thinking of them.

The Minonk-to-Peoria St Jude run team will have blue lights bulbs that you can place in your outside lights. They are $2.50 per bulb and multiples can be purchased. The Country Florist in Minonk has them for sale and the run team will also have a table set up at the Stop and Shop during the Minonk Parade of Lights. The lights will be turned on November 29th and we'll keep them on all the way thru the month of December.
Thank you all for your continued support.

The Minonk-to-Peoria St Jude Run team

Village-Aires Show this weekend

Hello, Everyone,

Just want to let you know about the Village-Aires Fall Show scheduled for this weekend - Nov. 22 and Nov. 23. Here is a publicity article about our show. Would love to see you there!

*******
A famous dance band years ago advertised itself as "The Sweetest Music This Side of Heaven." The Village Aires of Minonk are going to recapture that magic with their Fall Show. The well-known 30 voice choral group is going to take you ‘Star Gazing' with our concert theme "Celestial Greetings." Included in the program are songs about every kind of heavenly body you can imagine!

Under the direction of Elaine Cunningham, the group will present chorus selections, small ensembles and solos on that theme, and undoubtedly will include the most important heavenly body, the Wondrous star of Bethlehem, which announced the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Plan now to "Catch a Falling Star," or you might go "Swinging on a Star" with us at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Minonk on Saturday, Nov.22 at 7:00 p.m. or Sunday, November 23 at 3:00 p.m.

Tickets are available at Minonk Community Bank, Meyer-Jochums Agency, or from any Village-Aires member.
