Benefit for Gary Baker

Along with friends & family a benefit for Gary Baker si being planned. It will be held at Ron's Ironwheel bar located in Minonk on Saturday, October 17th.

Gary Baker & John Stevenson were the victims of a drunk driver outside of Canton on Aug. 9th. They had stopped along route 9 and were searching for items that had flipped out of the back of their truck. That's when a van driven by Kimberly L. Chaney of Lewistown hit another vehicle & then hit Baker & Stevenson. Stevenson was pronounced dead at the scene & Baker was critically injured and taken to OSF medical Center in Peoria. Gary Baker faces months of rehab because of a shattered left hip & other injuries. For the next 3 to 4 months he will be staying at Motel 6 in Minonk. Money being raised will be used for the cost of the motel, daily medicine & food. Donations can be dropped off at the Morton community Bank located in Minonk. Donation cans have been placed in & around Minonk local businesses. Please plan on attending the benefit. There will be raffle items and a 50/50 drawing that night along with food & music.

Thank You from the family & friends of Gary Baker.

City Workers

Thanks guys!!!! Again, I'm writing about our wonderful city crew. As I've said before, I've never lived in a town that had such a hard working group of people.

Thanks for addressing my PROBLEM quickly and taking care of it.

Thanks-

Saturday Night Buffett at Pizza Hut to benefit FHS Marching Band

This Saturday, September 19, 2009, Pizza Hut in Wenona will host a special Saturday Night Buffett as a benefit for the Fieldcrest High School Marching Band! Currently, Wednesday evening is the only night that Wenona Pizza Hut has a buffett, so a weekend buffett is really a great deal for everyone!

Tickets are $ 8.50 for Adults, and $ 5.00 for children ages 3-12. Ticket price includes the pizza/pasta buffet, salad bar, cinna-sticks and dessert pizza and a soft drink, lemonade or tea, as well as tax. Serving time begins at 5:00 PM and concludes at 8:00 PM.

Tickets are available from high school band members. There will also be a table set up by the band equipment trailer at Friday nights football game on September 18. There will even be "some" tickets available at the door at Pizza Hut on Saturday evening.

This year the Fieldcrest Marching Knights will be participating in the ISU Homecoming parade and competing at the Metamora Field Competition on October 10, 2009! The marching band could use your support, as the proceeds from this benefit will help purchase equipment needed for competing!

Sincerely,
FHS Band Boosters

Qualified City Residents for Police officers

I want to know why individuals like myself who have been attending college for the past 3 years for criminal justice, are not wanted for police officer in this town. I have lived in this town my entire life and care about what is going on in this town, however I apply for a position on the force and they decide to choose people from out of town. Who for one don't really care what happens to this town and it shows. This puzzles me I love this town and would love to protect the people who I have grown up with.

Justin Arndt
