Bees and Big Business

Dave,

Long time reader, first time responder here. I was glad to read your editorial on honeybees and the impact of herbicides.

I'd love to have the community members chime in to share natural methods of weed control that have worked for them.

If it is raining at 6:00 a.m., the flags will not be put up and if it has rained during the day and the flags are still wet they will be removed on Tuesday evening at the same times.

Gebke Duden

I am looking for information on Edo Duden's first wife, Gebke Willms Alberts. She was my great-great aunt through Johanna Alberts Brown Franzen. She was born in 1839 and married Edo in Peoria in 1856. I know they moved to Livingstone County before she died. She must have died about 1860. She and Edo had one daughter, named Betty Duden. Betty is buried in Minonk Township Cemetery in Edo's plot. I have been unable to locate any information on Gebke after she had Betty in 1857.
Gebke's mother remarried to Wilhelm Baumann and they lived west of Flanagan.
Any information would be wonderful.

Splash Park Open

The Minonk Splash Park is now open! Hours of operation are 12:00-8:00 daily. There was a delay in opening due to vandalism over the winter months. Let's take pride in our park by keeping it safe and clean, as it is a nice activity center for the kids in our community. Please report any issues to City Hall. Have a great Summer!

laws for golf carts and gators.

Why is it okay for parents or individuals to have their children/ Toddlers ride in their laps on Gators/golf carts around town?...is there a law for this? If not how common sense and safety for those little ones?
