Is there a need for face masks in this area?

Hi Dave,

I was on facebook and some areas (mostly northeast) need more facemasks. There are women making masks from cotton fabric for local hospitals. Do you know is there a need in this area?

Thanks for your help, since everything is basically closed down here in town, I thought you would be a good source.

Kathy Bumgardner

Sandy Forney: You can go to most the the hospital websites and they often times tell you. Doubt that heritage would use them but you could call them and ask
Tamara Persic: There is a group of us in the B/N area making masks for local facilities. I can add you if you're interested. As of right now, we have a pick up/drop off location here in El Paso. We have requests for over 2000 at the moment and have already provided about 1000, I believe.

Filger Library to remain closed until April 7

The Filger Library will remain closed through April 7th instead of April 1.

Another virus precaution

Packages delivered to your house (e.g. UPS, FedEx) have seen many hands in many places, increasing the likelihood of contamination. Another thorough hand-washing is in order. I've only read this advice once, but it seems important enough to pass along.

Illinois schools to be closed from March 17th through March 30th

Dear Fieldcrest Families,

Per a directive given by Governor Pritzker, all Illinois schools, including Fieldcrest CUSD#6 will close from Tuesday, March 17th through Monday, March 30th. As of this notice, students will return to their schools on Tuesday, March 31st. The directive given by the governor did not include information on the district's submitted Distance Learning Plan. As you know, Fieldcrest was already scheduled for spring break from March 23rd through March 30th. This closure also means that our buildings will be closed for all activities. Athletics, clubs, and other organizations are prohibited from practicing or gathering.

Fieldcrest will be in session on Monday, March 16th.

I understand this notice will be difficult for many of our students as this spring semester has a lot to offer. Please know that we have every intention of returning to school and normal activities as soon as possible! I believe the state and Regional Office of Education will share additional information and guidance with superintendents this weekend. As a parent of a Fieldcrest student, I realize I am leaving many of you with unanswered questions. I truly wish I had more information to share at this time. Please know I will quickly share any additional details as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience and support of our district!

Dr. Kari Rockwell

Looking for a relative Of Minonk barber, Clifford Tyson who died in 1965

My name is Stan Ingerski. My father, Jerome A. Ingerski grew up in Minonk in the 20s-30s. Cliff Tyson was the town barber. My dad was friends with Clifford
Tyson. Clifford gave my dad a pair of hair cutting scissors which my dad used for years to cut my hair. I have those scissors and would like to give them to a family member if they would like them. My dad has passed away and I am in my 70's. I would love to give the scissors to a Tyson relative. My grandmother was a Greskoviak. My Uncle helped build St. Patrick's Church in Minonk. His name is on the cornerstone. My dad lived at 810 Chestnut Street in the years 1910-1939.
