Ground breaking for gas main

This picture of a ground breaking ceremony for new gas mains in Minonk shows Mayor Ernie Moran breaking the ground. To the left are Joe Wagner and A. W. Barron, officials for The Northern Illinois Gas Company and at the right are Bill Smith and Jim Smith representatives from Morrison Construction Company who did the excavating work for laying the gas mains. The picture was taken at the corner of Mary and Fourth Street. The picture was probably taken in the early 1960's.
