Marlyn S. Carls, 82, Of Flanagan, IL Passed Away At 10:08 P.M. Thursday, February 27, 2020 At Flanagan Rehabilitation & Health Care.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at St. Petri Lutheran Church, Flanagan, IL with Rev. Amy Berger officiating. Burial with Military Rites will follow at Center Cemetery, Flanagan. Visitation will be 9 to 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Flanagan American Legion or to the Church. Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Flanagan, IL is assisting the family with services.

Marlyn was born November 6, 1937 in Flanagan, IL the son of Simon and Grace Kutzner Carls. He married Joyce E. Kuerth on July 18, 1959 at Meadows. She survives along with two children Steve (Mary) Carls of Gridley and Susan (Alan) Rients of Minonk; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one nephew.

Marlyn was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church and the Flanagan American Legion. He served in the Army National Guard from 1960- 1966. He started at the Flanagan Implement Company in 1963 and in 1985 he became co-owner with his son Steve. Marlyn enjoyed spending time with his family and enjoyed watching them play football. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great grandpa.
