Heart Hunters Catches on in Minonk

Saturday, March 28, 2020 - Posted 5:06:31 PM

A Facebook group called "Heart Hunters" has created a following in Minonk with residents pasting paper hearts and other cutouts on their windows. The group was started to help home-bound children deal with being cooped up in the house by having people in the community paste cutouts of hearts and other objects on their windows for children to search out and count. The objective of the Heart Hunters Facebook page in their own words are described below:

In this time of social distancing, we are all trying to spread a little love and compassion. This group was originally started to give us something to do with our kids when we went out on walk. We wanted to promote social distancing while doing an activity with them during a time when we must be so careful. It has grown into much, much more. Post hearts in your windows, on your doors, wherever you want. They can be made from anything (paper, wrapping paper, cereal boxes)-be creative. Not an artist? That's ok. Many of us aren't. Wanted to go all out? Do it! Out on a walk? Feel free to share about how many hearts you see, colors of hearts or, if you want to, offer up an idea for changing out shapes in our windows. There are really no rules except to spread the love and feel a little more connected in these uncertain times. Make sure you share your pictures.

Here is the link to the Heart Hunters Facebook page.

Someone estimate that over 70 residences in Minonk have posted hearts on their doors and windows.  We took a ride on Saturday afternoon and took photos of some of the homes with hearts on their windows and are displayed below.
