Parade of lights Fourth of July Class reunions Event calendar

Parade of Lights

Each year Minonk starts off the Christmas season with its Parade of Lights that occurs on the first Saturday night of each December. The parade includes floats from all over the area and is becoming bigger and better each year. At 6:30 fireworks signal the start of the parade. Then the street lights are turned off and the downtown area becomes charge with anticipation and excitement. The many lighted floats seem to glide on air as they make their way slowly along the darkened streets. The downtown stores remain open during and after the parade to welcome the festive crowd. Children can see Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus at City Hall. Many former residents of Minonk return for this event to meet with friends and relatives. It has become a winter homecoming for residents and former residents of Minonk that gives a cheery start to the Christmas season.

Children get to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus.

Dowtown Minonk is crowded with people in a festive mood.

The lighted floats seem to glide through the darkened streets.
