Minonk Foods held its grand opening Saturday morning starting at 10:30 am with a ribbon cutting ceremony by Mayor Bill Koos. Santa Claus was there to greet the children and drawings were held throughout the day. Complementary pulled pork sandwiches and cookies were available along with the face painting for the children.
Owner Max Patel said he is making sure to provide the best quality food possible. He said meat that is hormone free is shipped in three times a week. Any meat that does not meet his standards is rejected. Fresh produce is also shipped in three times a week and pastries and bread are baked fresh each day on the premises.
A new feature is fried chicken that can be bought by the piece or by the bucket. The chicken is fresh and not frozen or injected with water to make it bigger.
Mr. Patel said he is eager to meet his customers and hopes that the store will be a big success in the community.
