Book on History of Minonk to be published

A definitive history of Minonk is about to be published. For the past 6 years, Barth Weistart and Dave Uphoff have scanned old newspapers and other periodicals to compile a comprehensive history of Minonk. Barth has spent 3 years condensing this data into a unique and fascinating history of Minonk.

The History of Minonk will be issued in 3 volumes. The first volume will be over 500 pages long with the following chapters: Founding Minonk, People, Farmers and Farming, Schools, Stories, Ethnic Stories and Nearby Towns. Barth has done an excellent job of presenting the history in short articles punctuated with headings and photos instead of long boring text that are usually associated with history books.

In order to start printing the first book, prepayment is needed for the printer. This is where public participation is needed. A discount is being offered to those who pre-order the book with a deposit. Each book will sell for $60. By making a deposit of $20 through a pre-order, the cost of the book will be $50. This offer will expire on January 31, 2015. The first book is scheduled for printing sometime in April.
