Village-Aires Christmas Concert This Weekend

Tuesday, November 17, 2009 - Posted 9:41:00 AM by George Hunt

Christmas is a joyous time of the year and what better way to get in that mood than to attend the Village-Aires Christmas concert “A Time for Joy.”

They will perform this concert on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at 3 p.m.  The Fieldcrest High School gym is being repaired this year; so,  the concerts will take place at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 236 W. 5th St., Minonk, IL.  There will be no intermission during this concert.  Restrooms, which are handicap accessible, will be available down stairs before and after the concert.  Tickets may be purchased ahead of time for $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for students.  Adult tickets purchased at the door will be $6.00.

What does it take to bring joy to someone?  If you listen to “We Can Make a Difference at Christmas,”  you will learn what you can do.  There are times when our loved ones are not with us at Christmas as we learn in “Blue Christmas” and “Merry Christmas Darling.”  But, there is also hope as we learn in “As Long As There’s Christmas.”

Hope brings joy into our hearts.  That hope comes to us in Jesus Christ.  The story of His birth will be told in several songs:  “Heaven on the Hay,”  “Silent Night,” “Glory Hodie!,” “Come and See the King,” “Gloria Hodie,” and “Glory, Glory.”

The Village-Aires is under the direction of Mrs. Elaine Cunningham.  The Village-Aires members are:  Leah Bown, Pam Gansch-Boythe, Loretta Hunt, Bev Meyer, Shirley Missey, Rebecca Oltman, Kathy Saad, Niki Bohler, Shelly Butler, Debby Cargill, Michelle Janssen, Joan Jochums, Donna Leonared, Marylu Pille, Janet Redenius, Lana Stimpert, Jay Hurd, Jack Jochums, Dick Leonard, Russ McCulley, Jim Meyer, Don Oesch, and Jerry Welch.

Bring your family and friends to the Village-Aires Christmas concert and get ready for “A Time for Joy” this holiday season.
