Minonk Buildings Demolished After the Fire
- Posted 7:32:00 PM by Dave Uphoff
All of the buildings in the great Minonk fire were demolished after the fire except for the Hewitt Building owned by Roger Gaspardo who requested that the building not be torn down. Ned Leiken, owner of the Leiken Law Office building also requested his building be saved but it was demolished because it posed a safety risk to the area. A big portion of Minonk history is gone.
Below is the aftermath of the fire before demolition began.

The Leiken Law Office building was taken down last.

This what is left of Minoni's famous "bank corner" that was the scene of many social gatherings over the years.

Hi, Haven't been in Minonk for a few years. Very sad to hear my great uncle's old hardware store, Hewitt Store is gone. Best wishes to all in Minonk.
