Fieldcrest Elementary South receives blue ribbon award

Fieldcrest Elementary South in Minonk was one of only 20 schools in Illinois to receive  a blue ribbon for academic achievement from the U.S. Department of Education

The No Child Left Behind-Blue Ribbon School Program honors public and private elementary, middle and high schools that are either academically superior in their states or that demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement.  Fieldcrest Elementary South scored in the top 10% of all schools in the country based on results from the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) given to 4th grade students 3 years in a row.

Most of Illinois' Blue Ribbon Schools are located in the suburban Chicago area with more than one-third of them being private, Christian schools.  The only downstate schools to receive the honor were Fieldcrest Elementary South and Fox Creek Elementary School in Bloomington.

-- Horace Greeley Elementary School in Chicago

-- Immaculate Conception School in Chicago

-- Longfellow Elementary School in Wheaton

-- Pierce Downer Elementary School in Downers Grove

-- River Trails Middle School in Mount Prospect

-- Saint Colette School in Rolling Meadows

-- Saint Germain School in Oak Lawn

-- Saint Mary of the Annunciation School in Mundelein

-- Sandburg Middle School in Elmhurst

-- St. Francis de Sales School in Lake Zurich

-- Twin Groves Middle School in Buffalo Grove

-- Willow Bend Elementary School in Rolling Meadows

Fieldcrest South staff have worked together to help all students reach their greatest potential. This Blue Ribbon Award is just one indicator of the quality education all Fieldcrest Schools provide our students.

HMM, not bad for a school that Eric Olson thinks lets kids drop out....not settling at 80%, nope they still cared enough to go the distant. those kids reached 90%. I for one am happy my children are getting an education from Fieldcrest South. Job well done teachers...my children are in your hands and I am happy about it.
