The parking areas in
downtown Minonk will be striped the week of September 26. Areas to be
striped include the following: 100-500 blocks of N. Chestnut; 5th Street between Walnut Street and Chestnut Street; the Dollar General
parking lot and the parking lot adjacent to City Hall/Police
Department. The striping process will affect parking patterns as
follows:
Tuesday, Sept. 27
5-10
pm: all parking areas to be striped will be swept. It will take 4-5
hours to sweep all the parking areas. Parking will not be restricted
during the sweeping process.
Wednesday, Sept. 28
Parking will be restricted as follows:
8 am – 1 pm: Dollar General parking lot will be striped. Will be re-opened by 1:00 pm.
Noon – 5 pm: City Hall/Police Department lot will be striped. Will be re-opened later that evening.
Noon – 5 pm: 5th Street between Walnut and Chestnut, both sides will be striped. Will be re-opened later that evening.
Thursday, Sept. 29
Parking will be restricted as follows:
8
am – 5 pm: The west side of the 400-500 blocks of N. Chestnut will be
striped. This area will be re-opened later that evening.
Friday, Sept. 30
Parking will be restricted as follows:
8
am – 5 pm: The east side of the 400-500 blocks of N. Chestnut will be
striped. This area will be re-opened later than evening.
The
west side of the 100-300 blocks of N. Chestnut will also be striped
during this three day period as "fill-in" areas as the schedule allows.
The
current angle of the parking lanes in the 400-500 blocks of N. Chestnut
is 60 degrees. As part of this project the angle will be changed to 45
degrees. This shallower angle will allow a better view for drivers
backing out of the parking lane and will create a little wider driving
lane.
AAA
Sweeping and Striping of Metamora will be performing the work. They
have many years' experience with sweeping and striping for commercial,
industrial and government entities. A second striping proposal was
received that was 65% higher than AAA's proposal.
