The sidewalk project at the corner of 6^th & Chestnut Streets in downtown Minonk continues at a good pace.  Footings for the new construction have been poured and the structural foam has been installed in the former window wells and stairway spaces of the Sweet Shop that were uncovered when the old sidewalk was removed.  The structural foam, a very dense manufactured product, is being used in those spaces so that the weight of the new sidewalk that overlays the foam will be directed downward instead of laterally against the basement walls of the Sweet Shop.

Hein Construction continues to prepare the site for the new sidewalk, handicapped ramp, parking area and steps that are planned for that area.  They will soon be ready to start pouring more concrete for this project.
