Minonk played host to a soccer game between University of Iowa and Indiana State at the New Millenium Park north of Minonk on September 11. Indiana State won the game, 3-1, that was played on a warm Sunday afternoon.
Evidently, Minonk had the only soccer field available for play on that particular day and was arranged by Mike Zimmerman who coaches the local MidState Stars Soccer Club team. Mike said it was a very impressive game and said both teams want to come back. Mike has requested the University of Illinois to play the University of Iowa from the Iowa club. Also the refs are going to tell the Illinois State U. team about playing at New Millennium field.
Mike said the youth soccer coaches are considering a youth soccer day in October and he is going to try and get an adult game schedule that day for the youngsters.

SInce there are no bleachers at New Millenium Park, spectators had to bring their own chairs.
