The seventh and largest class of Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame inductees was recognized on Saturday, August 13, 2011, during the 4-H Family Event at the Illinois State Fair. The Illinois 4-H Foundation established the statewide Hall of Fame in 2005 to honor and celebrate extraordinary 4-H alumni, volunteers, and former 4-H staff. Nominations for the Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame are made by University of Illinois Extension staff.
Marshall-Putnam 4-H Leader, Dick Hahn was a member of this year's 4-H Hall of Fame. As a member and volunteer, Dick Hahn has dedicated countless hours in the Marshall-Putnam 4-H program. His parents got him involved in 4-H as soon as he was old enough. He stayed in 4-H throughout his youth and got involved as a volunteer shortly after his "4-H graduation."
He began his volunteer role as a Beef Superintendant in 1980. A few years later he joined the leadership of the Bennington Go-Getters 4-H club in Toluca, IL. It was the same club that he belonged to as a youth and is currently leading with his wife Pam.They have raised their four children, Jeremy, Justin, Sara, Aaron, and Matthew with 4-H being an integral part of their childhood.
Over the years Dick has shared his leadership and expertise as Livestock Judging coach, 4-H Association President, Sale of Champions Committee, State 4-H Records judge, and M-P 4-H & Extension Foundation member.
Together, the 52 members of the Hall of Fame's Class of 2011 have been involved with 4-H as members and 4-H club leaders for more than 1,118 years! Each member resides from a different Illinois county.
