Mayor Koos appointed John Wherry as Chief of Police at the city council meeting on August 19. The new chief will be receiving a starting salary of $55,000.

Mayor Koos reported that LaRose Disposal has agreed to extend the current temporarycontract through Friday, November 2, 2015.  Discussion was held regarding items to be included in a new contract including curbside recycling, clean up days, and large item pickup. Mayor Koos will request sample contracts from the attorney to be included in next month's meeting packets for Council review.

OLD AND UNFINISHED BUSINESS:  Alderman Cavera suggested the Public Works/Public Safety Committee membership be revised to include all six aldermen.  No action was taken on this item.

NEW BUSINESS: Alderman Marcoline inquired about the situation involving the police department and a local minister. Mayor Koos said he is unable to comment on the situation. Alderman Ruestman requested a police report be provided to each Council member once the situation is no longer pending. Alderman Marcoline inquired if there is a chicken ordinance in effect.

PUBLIC COMMENTS: Jim Liner reported he believes the Titan garbage contract provided bulk item pickup at the first pickup of each month with a limit of two items.

Rodney Ruestman expressed disagreement with the suggestion that all aldermen be made members of the Public Works/Public Safety Committee. He suggested a Neighborhood Watch program would involve the community more and would have helped in the situation with regards to the minister and the police department..

Ted Muncy inquired about getting the deposit refunded on his water bill. Mayor Koos will look into this matter further.

Jim Pozzi of Republic Services Disposal Company introduced himself to the council and offered  to  provide  information on their services.
