The Minonk Police Department will be providing our youths, ages 5 to
15, with the opportunity to be photographed and fingerprinted in an
effort to provide current pictures and information for Police Agencies
if ever required. In response to growing concern about missing
children, parents and law enforcements agencies have begun
fingerprinting programs for children. While fingerprinting will
not prevent the tragedy of child abduction or disappearance, it
may help law enforcement authorities identify children unable to
identify themselves. Moreover, fingerprinting provides a
valuable opportunity for parents to talk with their children about
personal safety. The fingerprints and photos of your children
will be kept on file with the Minonk Police Dept.
We
will also be registering youth's bicycles at this time. All
youths must be accompanied by an adult so they can take part in this
event. We hope to see you there.
Fingerprinting will
take place on Saturday, August 26th, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the
Millenia Park north of the city. This event is free of charge but
we are asking that you bring a non-perishable food item, paper goods,
or hygiene item to donate to our local food pantry. Thanks.
