The Board of Education of Fieldcrest C.U.S.D. No. 6 and the Fieldcrest Education Association have reached a 1 year agreement. This agreement includes a 3% increase on the base. Over, the past 3 years contract settlements have resulted in an average increase in base salaries of 1.67%.

Board President, Joe Kirkpatrick stated, “It is obvious to the Board that the Fieldcrest Education Association has continued to advocate for it membership while keeping the district financial position at the forefront. When the FEA took a freeze in the base 2 years ago it saved the district over $230,000. Even with settling last year’s contract along with the contract for 2006-07 the district is still over $80,000 ahead.”

Nancy Turner, lead negotiator for the Association echoed these comments stating, “The Fieldcrest Education Association wanted to end up with a contract that was fair for the membership, competitive with other districts but still allowed the financial condition of the district to improve. This contract meets all of those objectives. The FEA appreciates the sensitivity to our interests demonstrated by the Board during the bargaining process.”

Superintendent Randy Vincent was pleased with the agreement and the process. He stated, “Due to hard decisions and cuts made by the previous Board and administration our fund balances continue to grow. It was rewarding to see that both the Board and the FEA are committed to improving the financial solvency of the district. This contract will allow for a gradual growth in our fund balances. Coupling the contract with the passage of our referendum in November will enable us to take the next step toward restoration of much needed curricular programs and reduction of student participation fees.”
