Apisara Vorapttanapaiboon
The Wenona Rotary Club is sponsoring a youth exchange student for the 2010-2011 school years. We are looking for three host families to host a female student for about four months each. She is a sixteen year old girl from Bangkok, Thailand. She will be in her junior year of high school. Her name is Apisara Vorapttanapaiboon, prefers Aey. She speaks and reads English and like sports, shopping and movies.
The host applications ends June 14th.
The first family would have the student of the beginning of the school year until about Christmas time. The second family would have the student from Christmas time until about spring break or Easter. And the last family would have the student until the school year is over and until about the first of July.
All sorts of families can apply to be host families. We have families with young children, families with high school students, families that are empty nesters, and also single parent or single persons. Single persons must be female. Generally the host families need to provide a safe place for the student to call home, a bed and board. There would be some driving involved. The student will be between 16 and 18 years of age and enrolled in the Fieldcrest High School, probably 10th or 11th grade. It is a truly wonderful experience for both the host family and the student.
We have a short guide for host families that we can give you to review and also we can sit down with you and answer any questions you might have. The host family requirements are in the guide.
If your family would be interested in hosting a student, you can contact Roger Gabrielse, Wenona Club president, at 1-815-343-8100 or E-mail: rgabrielse05@gmail.com.
