The 4th of July Committee hopes that you will enjoy the schedule of events we have lined up. The event is scheduled for Thursday, July 2rd through Saturday, July 11th at the various parks in town. Please be sure to check out the schedule for times and events.

On Thursday, we kick off our event with Kiddie Parade decorating for all the little ones.

On Friday, the Tractor Show and Car Show will be lining up at Veteran’s Park with many antique and classic vehicles coming to town for these events. On that same evening folks can enjoy the Bag Tournament and Ladder Golf all out at Veterans Park. The beer tent will open at 4 p.m. and “Six String Mafia” will start playing at 9 p.m. for that evening’s entertainment.

On Saturday, the Fourth of July, starting out early at West Side Park the Craft Show/Flea Market will open the day. The Kiddie Parade will then take off once again at 9:45 while the main parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. The theme this year is “Good Times Are Coming”. The Kiddie Parade will be one block longer than in past year’s and end at the Catholic Church for everyone’s entertainment. After the parade you are invited to come and enjoy a Chicken Dinner at West Side Park. Bocci Ball will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Paulie’s Pub in downtown Minonk (sign up is at 12:00) Many events will be going on that day at West Side Park as well – Fun On The Run, Bingo, Watermelon Eating Contest and Kids Games. If you have anyone who likes “American Girl” dolls there will be an opportunity to purchase chances to win at this time as well.

Later on that evening at Sutton’s Park come and enjoy the Cake Walk, always a fun event, lots of cakes are given away and feel free to purchase a pork chop sandwich from the Ambulance Association. The entertainment on stage at Sutton’s Park will be “Borderline” returning again for this year. At dusk you can enjoy watching the best firework display around. After the fireworks display feel free to come out to Veteran’s Park to the beer tent to enjoy “Gas Road Riot”.

On Saturday, July 11 the 3 on 3 Tournament will return with registration at 8:30 and games starting at 9 a.m. in West Side Park.

For a complete listing of events please check with local area merchants in the coming weeks or on www.minonktalk.com.

This year’s event has something for everyone and we hope to see you there. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer please feel free to contact me. One last note of thanks to all of the people who have donated their time and effort on this year’s event – a heartfelt “Thank You”.
