Memorial Day Service Held at High School

A Memorial Day service was held at the Fieldcrest High School gymnasium in Minonk at 10:00 am Monday. The program was sponsored by the Minonk American Legion with Melvin Matter as moderator.

The program began with the entry of the Color Guard followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and then the singing of the National Anthem accompanied by Mary Miles at the piano.

Mr. Matter gave an introduction which was followed by a prayer by American Legion member James Jacek.

Speeches were read by Fieldcrest students Addisin Goodrich, Syndey White and Linnea Nordstrom.

James Jacek and Dave Shirley read the Cemetery Roll Call of all deceased veterans from the area cemeteries. Howard Knack was honored as a 50 year member of the American Legion while Herc Paloumpis and Eugene Tweedt were honored as 60 year members.

The program concluded with the Color Guard Firing Squad, the playing of the taps by Braden Cunningham and the singing of "God Bless America".



The ceremony begin with the entrance of the Color Guard.



The Cemetery Roll Call was read by James Jacek at the podium and Dave Shirley.
