A good sized crowd attended the annual Memorial Day services in Minonk at the Fieldcrest High School gymnasium Monday morning. The services were moderated by Melvin Matter of the American Legion Post 142.
The services began with the entrance of the Color Guard followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of the National Anthem accompanied on piano by Mary Miles.
A prayer was offered by Jim Jacek and then speeches were given by Fieldcrest High School students Alex Carls, Zada Baker and Rachel Cook.
Braden Cunningham sang a musical tribute accompanied by his grandmother, Elaine Cunningham on the piano.
American Legion Commander Larry Miles presented a 70 year pin to A. B. "Tip" Carter, a World War II veteran.
The Cemetery Roll Call of veterans who are buried in the Minonk Township Cemetery, St. Patrick's Cemetery, Davisson Cemetery and Baughman Cemetery was read by Jim Jacek and Dave Shirley.
The services were concluded with the Color Guard Firing Squad followed by the playing of Taps by Braden Cunningham and then everyone joined in with the singing of "God Bless America".
