Memorial Day ceremony held at Fieldcrest gym

A Memorial Day ceremony was held at the Fieldcrest gymnasium Monday morning.  Master of Ceremonies Melvin Matter opened the ceremony by leading the audience with the Pledge of Allegiance and then the singing of the national anthem.

A vocal selection was performed by the quartet of Joel Jochums, Jack Jochums, Jay Jochums, and Jay Hurd playing guitar.  Dr. John Podzamsky played two bagpipe selections. 

Pastor Buegel gave the invocation and was the guest speaker.  Readings were made by Kaitlyn DeMay, Casey Nichols and Katie Janssen.

American Legion Commander Larry Miles presented 60 year pins to veterans A. B. (Tip) Carter, Jack Conroy and RIchard Shelby.

The reading of the cemetery roll of veterans was done by Robert White and James Jacek.  The ceremony concluded with the Color Guard Firing Squad and the playing of Taps by James Jacek.

The ceremony concluded with the singing of "God Bless America" with piano accompaniment by Mrs. Larry Miles.
