Minonk Police Department announced today an improvement to their phone system that will allow voice messages to be forwarded within minutes to the police officer on duty. When residents call the local police number, 309-432-2341, they will now be able to leave a voice message if the officer on duty is unable to answer their call. Within minutes, the recorded message will be forwarded to the cell phone of the on-duty police officer.
A second phone line, 309-432-2351, will be discontinued effective June 1. This local number was not answered by the Minonk Police Department; instead calls were automatically forwarded to WoodCom, the Woodford County dispatching center in Eureka. In light of the recent improvements to forward voice messages directly to the on-duty police officer and the high cost of maintaining the second line to WoodCom, the decision was made to eliminate 309-432-2351 to reduce expenses.
Minonk residents are reminded to call 9-1-1 in case of emergency and to call 309-432-2341 for non-emergency police matters.
