Rutherford: We need statesmen, not politicians

Springfield, IL – State Sen. Dan Rutherford (R-Pontiac) discusses legislation with Sen. Christine Radogno (R-Lemont) on the senate floor at the State Capitol in Springfield. While there are only fifteen scheduled days left for the Spring 2007 Legislative Session, many major pieces of legislation are still waiting to be considered, including the state budget.

Sen. Rutherford explained that the final days will be a flurry of activity, but expressed concern that Illinois residents could be subjected to a massive tax increase in order to balance an over-inflated budget.

“I’m working diligently to stop yet another tax burden from being placed upon the residents of Illinois,” said Rutherford. “Right now, we need statesmen, not politicians. I hope that other legislators feel the same way as we work towards a sensible budget plan.”
