Season Winding Down for the MidState Stars

With two weeks left until the end of the Spring season, the battle hardened MidState Stars have been beaten but they were never down. With losses on May 2nd against Systematics (1 – 7), May 3rd against Coed SC (1 – 13), and May 9th against Good Calls (0 – 7); the MidState Stars have gradually improved their skills and learned to work together as a team. Communication, support of your teammates when they are under pressure, and placing the ball to the open space are the key ingredients in developing great soccer teams.
“ It’s not like we are spending all our time defending on our end of the field,” said Coach Zimmerman. “ This team is creating endless opportunities on the opposing goalkeeper”, “And you have to remember that these high school players are playing against adults and college players,” boasted the Coach, “ They stood tall and fought hard!”
“And don’t let the scores fool you, our goalkeeper has only allowed twenty-five percent of the goals to enter his net,” said Coach Zimmerman, “and for a young and improving goalkeeper, turning away seventy-five percent of the shots in this league is fantastic!”
The MidState Stars have two games left, and then workouts begin for the Summer Season. The Club is planning on entering the High School league in Bloomington this summer, where these soccer warriors will welcome a new set of opponents.
