PONTIAC, IL As the state budget debate
begins to heat up and the legislative days count down, State Senator Dan
Rutherford (R-Pontiac) is calling on average citizens to submit their ideas for
either cutting or modifying the budget.
There are plenty of politicians in Springfield looking to raise taxes. The
statesman-like approach would be to ask the public what their thoughts are on
the state budget, Rutherford said.
Constituents and friends from around Illinois are calling my office saying the
logical first step should be to cut spending by eliminating programs or changing
existing ones.
Illinois citizens are being asked to go to
www.DanRutherford.com to
submit their ideas for cutting or modifying the state budget. Once on the
Senators Web site, scroll down to the Illinois Spending section to submit
ideas.
Illinoisans are demanding that the state begins to live within its means
just like any ordinary family must do, Rutherford concluded. Your recommendations for changes,
cutting and modifications will be sent to the appropriate state agency along
with a copy to Governor Pat Quinn.
