Grass/Weed Removal notice given by city

                       OVER 10 INCHES ILLEGAL

The City of Minonk, according to the Illinois Compiled Statutes Chapter 65, Sections 5/11-20-6 and 5/11-20-7, has adopted provisions for the destruction of grass, weed and plant growth.  Grass, weed and plant growth exceeding 10 inches in height and allowing the growth of poison ivy or other poisonous vine or plant, ragweed, thistles, or other noxious weeds are illegal.

 

NOTICE NOT REQUIRED


Individual notice is not required.  The City of Minonk will mow and clean up property where grass, weed and plant growth exceeds 10 inches in height.  A lien covering mowing, clean up and administrative costs will be placed on the property (estimated minimum cost $150.00).  It is also illegal to place any grass clippings on any city street or sidewalk.

 

$750 PENALTY

The City of Minonk will sign a complaint against violating property owners subjecting the owner to a $750.00 penalty.
