City fires Minonk Police Chief

Mayor Bill Koos said Minonk Police Chief Nathan Barker was terminated from his duties as of 3:00 pm, Tuesday, April 21. A decision on his replacement will not be discussed until the new city council is sworn in on May 4. Barker was pulled over for improper lane use about 5:30 a.m. Monday on Illinois Route 117 near the intersection of Woodford County Road 1300 North. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage. He posted $100 bond and is scheduled to appear in Woodford County court at 9 a.m. May 27.
