On Thursday, March 15, 2018, Fieldcrest High School worked with local Emergency Agencies to conduct a school safety/simulated intruder drill in order to provide continued training in this important life skill. In addition, schools are mandated to train at least one time each year with local law enforcement. This full scale disaster drill was a real time scenario that included an intruder moving throughout the building, in order for our students and staff to review the procedures that have been implemented the past 3 years. The local police department has been working with high school administration to prepare for this training. This coordinated effort also supported local EMS personnel to conduct their training of triage and rescue.

Our school is devoted to the safety of our students. This devotion includes the Life Skill training of how to deal with an active shooter in any place or situation. An active drill of this nature provides our school an opportunity to review current practice and make practical changes based on experiences. The goal is to train students so that they can remain safe in ANY place or situation. Our hope is that students will be able to take this training and be leaders in any response should this type of crisis take place in the future.

Fieldcrest Administration appreciates the involvement of local agencies and the coordinated partnerships with law enforcement and Emergency Teams to keep our students safe.
